Strategy
Where should AI actually be applied across the organisation?
CTO Advisory
Work directly with George Broadbent to challenge your AI strategy, evaluate architecture and technology choices, and turn complex trade-offs into a clear next step.

Weekly 60-minute 1:1 sessions, between-session contact and review of the decisions you are making now.
The problem
CTOs are being asked to make decisions about AI strategy, architecture, platforms, agents, data, governance, vendors and organisational change at a pace that is difficult to manage internally. Many of these decisions do not have obvious answers. CTO Advisory gives you an experienced outside perspective to challenge assumptions, explore alternatives and work through important decisions before committing your organisation to a direction.
Where should AI actually be applied across the organisation?
What should you build, buy, integrate or avoid?
How do you move from experimentation into operational AI?
How do you secure support and prepare the organisation to act?
Decisions
Focus the advisory on a live decision, the constraints around it and the evidence needed to move forward.
Where should we apply AI, and what should we fund first?
Illustrative output: prioritised roadmap with assumptions, dependencies and decision criteria.
What should we build, buy or integrate?
Illustrative output: options assessment covering architecture, model/platform choice, integration and supplier dependency.
What must be resolved before we scale or deploy?
Illustrative output: review of evaluation, data access, oversight, security, operational cost and delivery risks.
How do we secure support and make the organisation ready?
Illustrative output: decision brief, ownership model or reviewed leadership presentation.
These are examples of advisory work. Priorities and outputs are agreed around your situation.
What we work on
There is no fixed curriculum. Each advisory relationship is centred on the issues you are actively working through.
Employees need answers from internal documents; some proposed use cases also change business records.
Read-only retrieval; drafting actions for human approval; executing narrowly defined actions.
Answer quality, permission enforcement, incorrect-action risk, auditability, latency and cost.
Representative evaluation cases, source-permission tests, failure handling and clear ownership.
Illustrative next step: test retrieval and human-approved actions first; assess broader execution against agreed risk and performance criteria.
The recommendation for your organisation depends on its data, systems and risk requirements. This illustrates the quality and structure of discussion. It is not a universal architecture recommendation or a promise of a fixed deliverable.
What you get
A 60-minute 1:1 focused on current decisions.
WhatsApp access for questions between scheduled sessions.
Architecture, strategy, vendor proposals and leadership materials.
Discussion with other advisory members about shared challenges.
The relationship
Think of it as having another experienced technology executive in the room when you need one.
The objective is not to tell you what to do. It is to help you think through the decision, challenge assumptions, identify risks and understand the alternatives before you make it.
| Stage | Focus |
|---|---|
| Establish context | Understand the organisation, constraints and decisions ahead |
| Assess the priority decision | Examine options, architecture, assumptions and evidence gaps |
| Challenge and refine | Review alternatives, risks and stakeholder questions |
| Agree the next step | Clarify the decision, remaining work and next advisory priorities |
The sequence adapts to your priorities; it is not a fixed curriculum.
Who it’s for
The engagement provides advisory support. Your team retains responsibility for decisions and implementation.
CTOs are the primary audience. CIOs, senior engineering leaders and technical founders can also be a fit when they own consequential AI decisions.
Introductory training, outsourced implementation and fractional executive ownership are separate needs.
